Hiya! We're not quite ready to make our next announcement yet, so it's gonna be mostly a ramblish blog post this week. I've been waiting on this one a long time, though, so I'm having trouble keeping a lid on it. It's so close! But I can't get worked up about that now, so oh look those are dragonflies dancing outside! Nice. Pretty...
Now that I have sufficiently distracted myself from the announcement that cannot (yet) be made, let's make with the rambling, shall we? So I've had reason to be ruminating about teamwork lately. It's pretty important to game development. I myself am a good example as to why: My focus and skills are in story making, writing, and game design, which don't produce the most concrete of results. If I want to make anything visual or digital (and we are trying to make a video game here) I have to work with people with different skills and interests. Most people do because of how many cool different things go into a game. So that's why it's so necessary. And as I've worked on various kinds of projects (hobby, student, game jam, online) with different people, I've gotten a lot of deliberate and unintentional messages about what good teams and teamwork look like. But each group I've worked with has been pretty different, even when basing themselves on pre-existing structures. Some of our biggest successes on this project have been as a result of adapting to how we each function, something which has taken a lot of ongoing work. But I think it's been worth it. I think it's important to a successful team to work at adapting to its members.
Well, that's about it for now. I appreciate all your patience and willingness to read text walls. Unless you don't have the patience for that. Then I appreciate you anyway. Stay tuned for more exciting news and less exciting, but hopefully interesting, rambles!
